Mass Ministries

Lectors: A Lector is the person who proclaims the first and second readings at Mass. This person may also lead the Prayers of the Faithful and reads the announcements. The Lector must believe that Sacred Scripture is the Word of God and have deep respect for God’s presence in that Word and is serious about the practice of their faith.

Eucharistic Ministers: By assisting in the distribution of the Eucharist during parish liturgies, these ministers help the community in celebrating its unity in Christ.

Altar Servers: These ministers serve God and the community through their presence and assistance at the altar. This ministry is open to either males or females in the 5th grade or older.

Sacristans: Sacristans minister through their care and concern for the altar, liturgical utensils and supplies, as well as liturgical vestments. They undertake the overall preparation of liturgical celebrations and take care of the Sacristy and the sacred items therein.

Sacristy Cleaners. Sacristy Cleaners keep our worship space and sacristy neat and clean for all who worship here. This is done weekly on a rotating basis.

Greeter: A Greeter is at the doors of the church waiting to provide a warm and genuine word of welcome. Greeters serve on the frontlines of the church and provide a positive first impression for guests and a “glad to see you again” feeling for regular attendees of the church. Greeters have a key role in setting the tone for the experience many people have at the church by making it feel warm and personal.

Ministers of Hospitality (Ushers): Ushers are an integral part of continuing the spirit of hospitality begun by the Greeters, and of helping assure the liturgical celebration flows smoothly. They assist people in finding their seats at the beginning of Mass, assist in Communion lines, take up the collection, distribute bulletins and offer personal assistance as needed.

Art and Environment: The Art and Environment Ministry is responsible for preparing the Church environment for worship in our liturgical seasons and other special liturgies by preparing the altar and church through use of art, flowers, plants and banners. In doing this, we help to create an environment that encourages prayer for our parish and ensure that the Church is decorated beautifully and appropriately for each liturgical celebration. This includes both the indoor and outdoor nativity sets.
